Probably one of the hardest things to watch as a sport parent is a lack of trust from your athlete's teammates in their ability to execute skills. Marli has grown up with a father who knows hockey like the back of his hand which means her hockey knowledge is vast. Because, let's face it that's all they talk about.
The beauty of a coed sport is that each athlete brings certain strengths to the table. Marli in particular has a solid shot, her passing accuracy is on point, and she has a great eye for positioning. If utilized properly these strengths could elevate the entire team.
So how do we change this? How do we build trust?
Well they have to ineract with each other to build trust. Continuing to segregate the genders perpetuates the divide already there. By using team building activities that has them working as a team off of the ice or field they can then start to build trust in one another that will translate to the rink and fields.
What are your favorite team building activities?
